MICHELLE MOREAU, biography

Michelle Moreau was born 11/17/72 in Jackson, Mississippi. The latter part of her childhood was spent in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she earned a BA degree in English at Howard University. She has been a newspaper staff reporter in New Orleans, Atlanta, and Chicago, and a freelance contributor to various magazines. She currently lives in New Orleans.

Ms. Moreau's work has the edginess of a civil rights activist tempered with objectivity and a minimum of bitterness and rancor. Her partial French ancestry flavors her subject matter and language, and her knowledge of diverse Southern black communities affords her work an accuracy that makes it socially significant
